After opening their new Las Vegas studio, ESPN is making use of it quickly by debuting both a new digital sports betting show and a dedicated sports gambling YouTube channel.
- There will be an ESPN sports betting show — “Daily Wager” — on ESPN News starting on Monday, March 11th, 2019. Over the last few years, sports gambling has become less third-rail and more mainstream, thanks in large part to its legalization effort.
- The one-hour program will start airing Monday, March 11, on ESPNEWS at 6 pm EST (It will also be available via live stream on the ESPN app.). The show aims to educate mainstream sports fans about sports betting and provide a deeper dive of analysis for hardcore fans.

The network announced this weekend that they’ll be debuting Bet, a thrice-weekly program that will stream across ESPN’s digital platforms. In addition, ESPN is also launching a YouTube channel dedicated exclusively to sports betting, another example of how important that market has become to both leagues and networks alike as legalized gambling becomes more and more commonplace across the United States.
“We really are doing a sports betting show at ESPN.” ESPN isn’t the first to try a national show like this; Fox Sports claimed that title last fall with Lock It In. But it’s clear that ESPN is not trying to replicate Fox’s formula. If anything, ESPN is trying to replicate a formula that has worked for many years at ESPN. Daily Wager ESPN sports betting analyst Doug Kezirian is joined by sports betting experts as well as ESPN analysts and reporters for discussion on how the day's sports news affects betting.
From ESPN’s release:
On the heels of the opening of its new studio on the Las Vegas Strip and the return of its sports betting television program Daily Wager, ESPN is expanding its sports betting footprint with Monday’s debut of Bet, a new half-hour program that will stream three nights per week on digital platforms.
Also on Monday, ESPN is launching a YouTube channel dedicated to sports betting content.
Bet, co-hosted by Joe Fortenbaugh and Tyler Fulghum, will originate from ESPN’s just-opened studio at The LINQ Hotel + Experience and will be available for live and on-demand viewing on the ESPN App and on ESPN’s social media feeds on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.
The YouTube channel, meanwhile, will house gambling-related segments from both the Las Vegas-produced shows and general programming throughout the week. (Please post every iteration of SVP’s Bad Beats, thanks in advance.) ESPN is clearly committed to this going forward, if opening a new studio in Las Vegas wasn’t example enough.
“Bet will allow us to connect with fans and drive the conversation in a way that leverages what we do best on social and digital platforms,” said Mike Foss, Senior Director, Digital & Social Video, Social Content, ESPN.
“We have seen tremendous success and growth in our slate of digital shows in 2020. Bet will showcase an amazing new studio in The LINQ and we are tremendously excited about delivering a new live and interactive show core to our audience expansion priority.”
The first episode of Bet will air tonight at 5:30 PM Eastern in advance of the annual Week 1 Monday Night Football doubleheader; going forward, episodes will be out Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evening.

The show’s structure is as follows. Greeny sits with a sports bettor and interviews them about a particular event.
Then as the interviewee begins telling the story, a reenacting dramatization with paid actors will appear on the screen, acting out the events as they are being narrated in the first person. Greeny shines as a host and is able to steer the conversations in an entertaining manner.
In the first episode that is currently live at ESPN+, fans are introduced to Steven Friedlander, an ophthalmologist who managed to win a long-shot wager on the Kentucky Derby, but his payout wasn’t exactly what he expected.
When explaining the show, Greenberg expresses bringing the craziness of sports betting wins and losses to the screen for entertainment.
“The idea is that we tell, through first-person narration, some of the craziest gambling stories in recent memory. saidGreenberg. “Crazy wins, crazy losses — told by people who suffered all kinds of consequences. And then we do these beautiful dramatizations that give the stories a sense of drama.”
ESPN+ members can log on now and watch the first episode. All-new episodes will air every Thursday in September.
